About Web Accessibility Group (WAG) Spotlight

The Web Accessibility Group (WAG) began at UGA in 2011 and transitioned to Georgia Tech's AMAC Accessibility in 2015. Its purpose is to bring together individuals in higher education attempting to navigate the complex requirements of Section 508 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. WAG currently offers web accessibility information and assistance through a wiki, listserv, and monthly online meetings where expert presenters are invited to share best practices and solutions.

Description: WCAG 2.1 is in the final stages and has a planned publication date of June 2018. To assist WAG members in preparing for this upcoming change, the June 6 WAG Meeting will be a discussion of the following topics:

  • Reasons for this release
  • 16 Success Criteria (newly proposed)
  • Where each criteria fits within the existing WCAG 2.0
  • Conformance level, description and intent of each new criteria
  • The next major change underway for WCAG

Presenter: Janet Sylvia, Coordinator Web Accessibility Group (WAG) and Accessibility Specialist with AMAC Accessibility Solutions.
Presenter Bio: Janet Sylvia has provided accessibility consultation and training for over 15 years. Her areas of expertise include Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 implementation for institutes of higher education.
