iPad

Use Safari to log into the AMAC Student Download Center on an iPad. (Files will not download properly using Chrome on an iPad when logged in to AMAC Student Download Center mobile site.) AMAC e-text books are in zipped format. To download zipped files onto an iPad, use a zip utility app such as WinZip(free version). After opening the files via WinZip, the files can be openned and viewed in ClaroPDF, ClaroSpeak, or iBooks.

  • PDFs can be read in ClaroPDF or ClaroSpeak apps with text to speech and synchronized highlighting (request free code from AMAC)
  • PDFs can be read in iBooks using VoiceOver
  • Word DOCs can be read in Pages using VoiceOver

Note: You must enable VoiceOver for certain accessibility features to work.

Android tablets (Samsung Galaxy, Motorola Xoom, etc.)

  • PDFs can be read in ezPDF Reader
  • DOCs can be read with QuickOffice (using text-to-speech)

Amazon Kindle

E-books can be viewed on Kindle Touch or Fire, but text-to-speech is only available on Kindle Fire. Click here for additional information about the Kindle Fire's accessibility features.

Barnes and Noble Nook

Text-to-speech options are only available for Nook Color, Tablet, or HD.

  • Go Read app (for HD) reads aloud DAISY e-books and provides some screen navigation tools
