Do I have to be a member of AMAC to place an order for a textbook, braille, or captioning?

Yes. We have three membership levels to choose from to accommodate different levels of need. See next question for further details.

What are the costs involved in becoming a member?

Colleges and universities can choose a Basic or Deluxe membership. The Basic membership has no annual fee and all orders are placed on a fee-for-service basis. The Deluxe membership includes AT software and discounts on a variety of services. It requires an annual fee and all orders are placed on a fee-for-service basis. The CGN membership for corporate, government, or nonprofit organizations has no annual fee and all orders are placed on a fee-for-service basis. Institutions that are a part of the University System of Georgia (USG) or the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) obtain USG and TCSG AMAC memberships.

How does my institution become a member?

Simply fill out the membership interest form on our website, or call our sales manager at 404-894-8683 to obtain additional details and/or to complete a membership form.

Where can I find a price listing of the products and services that you offer?

Please see our wiki page about all of our products and services.

What is the cost of a book that is already in the AMAC Alternative Media Repository?

The cost of a book varies depending on file type and production demands, however, all book files that we have already produced are offered at a 30% discount to all members.

When will I receive the orders that I place?

AMAC strives to complete all e-text orders within 21 days. Please note that August-September and January are especially busy times and orders may take longer. Braille and MathML are special cases which may take a few months to complete. However, installments are available for these formats to ensure that your students receive materials in a timely manner.

What formats are available?

AMAC produces a number of e-text formats, including PDF, MS Word Doc, HTML, DAISY and MathML. Please see our wiki page for information on all of our products and services.

What software is available to Deluxe, USG, or TCSG members?

AMAC offers a variety of assistive technology software to use with the e-text files we produce. Please see our wiki page for a listing of all available software.

Where can the software be installed?

Your membership agreement allows software to be installed on students' devices and computers as well as any computer managed by your disability service office. Software may not be installed on all computers campus-wide.

What is MathML?

MathML is a specialized e-text format that makes math equations accessible to screen readers.

Do I need additional software to play Learning Ally Audiobooks?

Yes, Learning Ally audiobooks require the download of the Audiobook Manager and ReadHear software. When a student logs in for the first time, Learning Ally's website will prompt these downloads.
