Instructions for Dividing a Word Doc File
1) Open File with multiple chapters.
Tip: Find table of contents and make note of the pages for the chapters in the book.
2) Decide which chapter you want to isolate / save to its own file.
Tip: for the first chapter you may only need to select from the end of Chapter 1 to the end of the book.
3a) Select the text from the beginning of the chapter to the front of the book
- Put you cursor at the beginning of the chapter
- Hold down Ctrl – Shift and tap the ‘Home’ key
- That will select all of the text from your cursor to the beginning of the file/book
- Right mouse click on the highlight and choose cut
3b) Select the text from the end of the chapter to the end of the book
- Put you cursor at the end of the chapter
- Hold down Ctrl – Shift and tap the ‘End’ key
- That will select all of the text from your cursor to the end of the file/book
- Right mouse click on the highlight and choose cut
4) Save your amended file “Chapter XX” where the XX is a number. Use Chapter 01, Chapter 02…the extra zero at the beginning will keep the files in order.
