Accessible formats include braille, audiobook and electronic text. Accessible materials afford the flexibility to meet the needs of a broad range of individuals with disabilities.
+

+
The chart below provides a brief overview of the material formats currently offered, in addition to recommended user and assistive technology examples. All formats are tested with assistive technology to ensure quality and compliance, and file size is adjusted for usability and delivery. In order to ensure efficient and timely response to our customers, AMAC implements [[AMAC%20Production%20Policies|these policies]] regarding the production of alternative material.
+

+
Additionally, if AMAC has already created the alternative materials you need in the desired format for another customer, we pass along a 30% discount on all re-use orders. As a central digital repository with almost 20,000 titles in a variety of formats, this ensures AMAC provides excellent cost savings to our customers.

The ATP certification is a generalist certification that covers a broad range of assistive technologies. Assistive Technology (AT) areas addressed by the program include: seating and mobility, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), cognitive aids, computer access, electronic aids to daily living (EADL), sensory, recreation, environmental modification, accessible transportation and technology for learning disabilities. AMAC also provides assistive technology training services. Text Interpreting is a meaning-based or summarized account of the spoken message. It includes significant information delivered by the speaker, without all of the extraneous nuances of spoken language, which may sometimes be difficult to understand by those with hearing loss or language-based disabilities. Notes of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) is provided remotely when access to every single word is necessary. CART is a verbatim account of everything that is spoken. CART is most effective for providing access to late-deafened adults who are accustomed to hearing all the elements of spoken language or ESL individuals. Transcripts of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

A benefit of asynchronous online learning (not at the same time as the teacher presents) is the flexibility of viewing anytime the student chooses – students who need access to the audio components of online courses should have this same benefit. The audio components of any course can be text interpreted and the transcript viewed anytime the student chooses, asynchronously.
