E-Text Media Price and Description Information*

Format Price per Page How It's Made Accessible Features
PDF: Standardized Publisher $0.12 We obtain a file from the publisher, assemble it with proper page numbers, reduce the file size, add metadata, and create bookmarks for easy navigation. Quick turnaround time.

Same layout as the print textbook. Bookmarks and correct page numbers for easy navigation. Text can be read aloud by screen readers with synchronized highlighting of text. Students can easily magnify the text or change color contrast options.

PDF: OCR Simple: $0.29

Complex: $0.48

When the publisher file is unavailable, we buy, chop, and scan the book and use Optical Character Recognition software to make it accessible. The final file has proper tags, optimized reading order, pagination, bookmarks, and metadata. Same layout as the print textbook.

Bookmarks and correct page numbers for easy navigation. Text can be read aloud by screen readers with synchronized highlighting of text. Students can easily magnify the text or change color contrast options. The OCR process takes longer than the options above, but the reading order is optimized for a better screen reading experience.

PDF: Scanned Image $0.08 When we encounter graphic novels with handwritten fonts and PDFs with many phonetic symbols or accent marks that are difficult for OCR software to translate into text, we scan the book, correct the page numbers, add metadata, and create bookmarks for easy navigation. Quick turnaround time.

Same layout as the print textbook. Bookmarks and correct page numbers for easy navigation.

Captioning and Described Media Services Information*

Service Description
Remote real-time captioning (text interpreting) Can be provided in any environment that has an Internet connection. Our captionists will listen to your live event or class remotely and provide access for your client(s) or student(s) by real-time text interpreting of the spoken information.

Text Interpreting is a meaning-based or summarized account of the spoken message. It includes significant information delivered by the speaker, without all of the extraneous nuances of spoken language, which may sometimes be difficult to understand by those with hearing loss or language-based disabilities. Notes of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

Remote real-time CART Can be provided in any environment that has an Internet connection. Our captionists will listen to your live event or class remotely and provide access for your client(s) or student(s) in real-time.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) is provided remotely when access to every single word is necessary. CART is a verbatim account of everything that is spoken. CART is most effective for providing access to late-deafened adults who are accustomed to hearing all the elements of spoken language or ESL individuals. Transcripts of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

Asynchronous text interpreting (online learning) Created at AMAC as a solution to accommodate students in online learning courses. A benefit of asynchronous online learning (not at the same time as the teacher presents) is the flexibility of viewing anytime the student chooses – students who need access to the audio components of online courses should have this same benefit. The audio components of any course can be text interpreted and the transcript viewed anytime the student chooses, asynchronously.

Captioned media AMAC adds captions to movies, podcasts, or clips created from your courses or programs. We are able to provide most modern formats, just let us know. Our announced turn-around time is 7-14 business days for captioned media. Certainly we are able to complete a project with a faster turn-around time for our members, just let us know at order entry.

Professional minute writing Provides a professional transcript of your event or meeting when the dialogue needs to be archived or made accessible for a later date. This product is provided only when you record your event or by remote internet connection. Minutes are provided in the following formats: .doc, PDF, .txt, RTF. Telephone connections are not possible.

Audio Description Audio Description involves the accessibility of visual images present in various forms of multimedia (and other content) for individuals who are blind or have visual impairments. AMAC Accessibility can help turn your videos and multimedia that have important visual content into fully accessible, described media. By adding vivid, succinct, and objective narrated descriptions of prescient visual content between existing sounds and dialogue, we can help ensure that blind and visually impaired persons experience what sighted individuals take for granted.
