Instructions for Dividing a Word Doc File

1) Open File with multiple chapters.

Tip: Find table of contents and make note of the pages for the chapters in the book.

2) Decide which chapter you want to isolate / save to its own file.

Tip: for the first chapter you may only need to select from the end of Chapter 1 to the end of the book.

3a) Select the text from the beginning of the chapter to the front of the book

  • Put you cursor at the beginning of the chapter
  • Hold down Ctrl – Shift and tap the ‘Home’ key
    • That will select all of the text from your cursor to the beginning of the file/book
  • Tap the "delete" key on the keyboard

3b) Select the text from the end of the chapter to the end of the book

  • Put you cursor at the end of the chapter
  • Hold down Ctrl – Shift and tap the ‘End’ key
    • That will select all of the text from your cursor to the end of the file/book
  • Tap the "delete" key on the keyboard
