Accessible Products & Services Solutions
Alternative Text Formats icon AMAC Accessibility provides technology-based products, training, assessments, technical assistance, and compliance services to public and private entities that require assistance with supporting customers and employees with disabilities. AMAC offers an extensive list of accessible product and service solutions.

Alternative Material Formats

Accessible formats include braille, audio and electronic text. Accessible materials afford the flexibility to meet the needs of a broad range of individuals with disabilities.

The chart below provides a brief overview of the material formats currently offered, in addition to recommended user and assistive technology examples. All formats are tested with assistive technology to ensure quality and compliance, and file size is adjusted for usability and delivery. In order to ensure efficient and timely response to our customers, AMAC implements these policies regarding the production of alternative material.

Additionally, if AMAC has already created the alternative materials you need in the desired format for another customer, we pass along a 30% discount on all re-use orders. As a central digital repository with almost 20,000 titles in a variety of formats, this ensures AMAC provides excellent cost savings to our customers.

Note: The prices below may not include some expenses such as the cost of purchasing a hard copy of the book, an administrative processing fee of $20.00, or that the minimum price for a non-publisher non-PDF order is $20 (please note this does not apply to reuse orders).

For additional information, please complete our online information request form or contact Membership Services.

Assistive Technology

The AMAC Assistive Technology Assessment is an individualized tailored report, which includes recommendations based on academic and/or workplace environments. A certified Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) administers the assessment in a one-on-one session. The ATP certification is a generalist certification that covers a broad range of assistive technologies. Assistive Technology (AT) areas addressed by the program include: seating and mobility, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), cognitive aids, computer access, electronic aids to daily living (EADL), sensory, recreation, environmental modification, accessible transportation and technology for learning disabilities. AMAC also provides assistive technology training services. AMAC AT services are supported by the Tools for Life Program, and their TechMatch Project, which is located at AMAC.

Assistive technology assessments are priced at a $450.00 flat rate. Training sessions are priced at $125.00 per hour.

Captioning Service Description Recommended User Examples
Remote Real-Time Captioning (Text Interpreting) Can be provided in any environment that has an Internet connection. Our captionists will listen to your live event or class remotely and provide access for your client(s) or student(s) by real-time text interpreting of the spoken information.

Text Interpreting is a meaning-based or summarized account of the spoken message. It includes significant information delivered by the speaker, without all of the extraneous nuances of spoken language, which may sometimes be difficult to understand by those with hearing loss or language-based disabilities. Notes of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

Students, clients, trainees, or employees who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, have language-based learning disabilities, or ESL individuals
Remote Real-Time CART

Can be provided in any environment that has an Internet connection. Our captionists will listen to your live event or class remotely and provide access for your client(s) or student(s) in real-time.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) is provided remotely when access to every single word is necessary. CART is a verbatim account of everything that is spoken. CART is most effective for providing access to late-deafened adults who are accustomed to hearing all the elements of spoken language or ESL individuals. Transcripts of the session are sent to the student/recipient as an RTF document within 24 hours of the event.

Students, clients, trainees, or employees who are late-deafened and accustomed to hearing all the elements of spoken language, or ESL individuals
Asynchronous Text Interpreting (Online learning) Created at AMAC as a solution to accommodate students in online learning courses. A benefit of asynchronous online learning (not at the same time as the teacher presents) is the flexibility of viewing anytime the student chooses – students who need access to the audio components of online courses should have this same benefit. The audio components of any course can be text interpreted and the transcript viewed anytime the student chooses, asynchronously. Students, clients, or trainees who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, or ESL individuals desiring to learn online
